Pilot G2 Pen
Ahh, the G2 pen from Pilot. Because Staples had stocked out of the old standard black UniBall Micro I was forced to look for other pens. Yikes. And thank goodness. I remembered reading people gush on Moleskinerie about how great the G2 was, and it sure did look cool in person with its mysterious black-amber-yellow-gradient ink barrel. I chose the 05 as the 07 looked way the heck too fat. I don’t see how people write with those.
A sweet pen, and noticeably smoother than the UniBall. The ink flow gives you clean edges on letters and they dry evenly, sort of like the writing from my beloved and hard-to-find Tombow. The G2 is such a joy that I’m (I swear) a little sad every time I get to the end of a line of writing with it.
My only complaint is that the tip tends to gunk up with ink a little when I make long horizontal lines, which I do a lot at work to separate items on a page. The UniBall still wins there, but for overall pleasure in writing, the G2 is my new cheap, widely-available favorite.
